Meet Charlie Horn! Charlie is a Senior IT Recruiter at INT Technologies. We had a great conversation with Charlie and discussed how he got into technology staffing, what he thinks is the most exciting when working with clients and staff, and why he chooses to make his career with INT Technologies. What got you into technology staffing?
Before I began working in technology staffing, I had a job in sales. I was looking for a career change and knew someone who was a director at a staffing firm. I discovered that he had some openings at his firm and went in for an interview. As I mentioned before, I was looking for a career change and I had a growing interest in technology, so working in technology staffing seemed like a great fit.
My interest in technology increased once I become more aware of how quickly it was growing. Working in the technology staffing industry, I needed to become more acclimated with different technology. The more I learned about it and the longer I worked within this industry, I became more interested and knowledgeable on the subject.
Currently, I am a Senior IT Recruiter at INT. On a day-to-day basis, I go through the entire lifecycle of recruiting. My role consists of sourcing, contacting candidates, setting up interviews, communicating with account managers, receiving feedback for candidates, and receiving offers for the candidates. Ultimately, it’s my job to give the right fit for both the client and the candidate.
What do you think is the most exciting about working with clients and staff on their technology?
I find that it’s very interesting and exciting to learn about new technologies that the average person might not be aware of yet. There are so many different technologies in the world, and they are changing every day. It’s great to watch specific technologies evolve into something that more and more people become aware of. It’s exciting to watch technology grow from it’s initial stage of production into something that people use daily. It’s fascinating to know about a specific technology before the rest of the world sees or utilizes it.
As a Senior IT Recruiter, I think working with different clients and technologies is also very exciting. I have clients and candidates that I have grown close to because of our constant communication. When I receive a new client or candidate, it’s exciting to do the research and understand more about them, their interests, and their company. Technology staffing is not just about finding a person and placing them. You need to find the perfect fit for both the candidate and the client. Doing this requires time, research, asking questions, and many conversations to get to a know people. I like to consider this as a mystery. As I’m searching for the right candidate for a job, I need to ask specific questions and “crack the code” so to speak, in order to make the perfect match. This entire process is challenging, yet it’s very exciting and enjoyable for me.
Another reason as to why I love what I do so much is that it’s incredibly rewarding. When you’re a Senior IT Recruiter, it’s always important to remember that it’s not just about making a placement, but doing everything possible to find the candidate the perfect position for them and making the client happy. Connecting all of the dots and making a great connection is what makes this job so rewarding.
What is it about INT Technologies that makes you want to come into work every day?
The internal and the external people that work at INT make up a large part of why I love coming into work every day. The leadership is fantastic as well as the account managers, recruiters, and many more. Overall, it’s a great work environment. Along with working with the INT staff, I really enjoy working with people outside of INT such as the clients and candidates. I work with many different people on a day-to-day basis. I like to think that I have my family here at INT, but then I’m reaching out to other people and getting to know them as well.
